Akatsi Robbery Network Dismantled; Weapons Retrieved, Police Arrest 3
—Police Arrest 3 In Major Crackdown

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects believed to be behind a string of armed robberies in Akatsi and surrounding communities in the Volta Region.
A statement shared by the Service on Facebook indicated that the operation, led by the Special Operations Assistant (SOA) to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), resulted in the retrieval of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
The arrests, which took place on April 21, 2026, followed a series of intelligence-led operations aimed at curbing a recent surge in robberies that had alarmed residents.
One of the key suspects, Enoch Adoglo, was apprehended at Gavekope, a village near Akatsi, after investigations linked him to a network of armed robbers operating in the area.
Subsequent intelligence led police to arrest Cephas Aniwaa, a blacksmith suspected to be the main supplier of weapons to the gang. Police believe Aniwaa manufactured and supplied firearms used in the robberies.
A third suspect, David Adzinu, was later arrested, completing what authorities describe as a successful operation against the criminal group.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of the following items:
- Seven single-barrel rifles
- Five locally manufactured pistols
- One revolver
- Sixty-four rounds of ACP ammunition
- Eleven rounds of AK-47 ammunition
- Four rounds of 7.62 x 51 ammunition
- Four live BB cartridges
- Eighteen spent BB cartridges
- Three mobile phones
- Winding tools believed to be used in the illegal manufacture of firearms
Police say the scale of the weapons haul raises concerns about the proliferation of illegal arms and the sophistication of criminal networks in the region.
Further investigations have identified another suspect, Mensah Kedzi, as a key figure in the robberies, including a major attack on April 3, 2026. Kedzi remains at large, alongside accomplices identified only as Akakpo, an ex-convict, and Ageh.
Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspects.
The latest arrests follow a violent robbery incident at Elshadai Enterprise, a drinks distribution company at Akatsi Tatorme, where about six masked men attacked workers and made away with an unspecified amount of cash.
During the attack, one worker was shot in the leg, while three other individuals sustained gunshot wounds from stray bullets.

The injured were initially treated at St. Anthony Hospital in Dzodze, with one victim referred to the Ho Teaching Hospital for specialist care. Hospital officials say the victims are in critical but stable condition.
Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency that the suspects had earlier been seen in the area dressed in black attire with red bands on their arms, posing as mourners attending a funeral.
The incident is part of a growing trend of robbery attacks in the municipality, including a similar case recorded on January 10 at Dorima Enterprise.
Residents have since called on the Municipal Security Council and law enforcement agencies to intensify patrols and restore calm in the area.
The Police have appealed to the public to provide credible information to aid ongoing investigations and the arrest of the remaining suspects.
