Volta Chiefs Arrive in China to Explore Investment Opportunities

A high-powered delegation of traditional rulers from the Volta Region has arrived in China on a strategic investment tour aimed at attracting international partnerships and investments to accelerate development in the region.
The delegation is being led by the President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Anfoega Traditional Area, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV.
The visit seeks to explore concrete investment opportunities and partnerships in key sectors, including agriculture and agribusiness, information technology and technology transfer, education and skills development, sanitation and waste management, tourism and heritage development.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the traditional authorities to engage the international business community and showcase the Volta Region’s economic potential, with the broader objective of positioning the region as an investment hub and creating jobs for the youth.
The visit, described as a significant step in connecting the Volta Region to the global investment community, is expected to open avenues for sustainable development and economic transformation.
The delegation is in China at the invitation of Ghana’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Kojo Bonsu.

It is being coordinated by Mr Peter Ahiakpor, a Voltaian businessman, and includes Togbe Gabusu VII, Paramount Chief of Hohoe; Togbe Atikpladza Agbi Yao VIII, Paramount Chief of Kpalime; Togbe Sei II, Paramount Chief of Botoku; Togbe Dagadu IX, Paramount Chief of Kpando; Togbe Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, Paramount Chief of Anyako; and Togbe Adama III, Paramount Chief of Some.
The delegation was warmly received at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport by Ambassador Bonsu, leading Chinese business executives, Mr Jiang Jia Hua and Mr Blaze Li of Sinohui Investment Corporation, and Aku-Sika Kpene, daughter of the land and Board Member of the Produce Buying Company (PBC).
Volta’s Investment Potential
The investment tour comes on the back of renewed calls for increased investment in the Volta Region.
Earlier this year, the Volta Regional representative on the Council of State, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, described the region as one of Ghana’s “best-kept investment destinations” at the 5th Annual Business Exchange Forum – Invest in Ghana Dialogue in Chicago, Illinois.
He cited the region’s fertile agricultural lands, abundant water resources, natural tourist attractions and peaceful environment as some of the factors that make it attractive to investors.
According to him, significant opportunities exist in commercial agriculture, agro-processing, fisheries, manufacturing and hospitality.
He further noted that government’s plans to develop a modern port and harbour could position the Volta Region as a major gateway for trade and investment in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
Mr Kwamigah-Atokple urged investors to take advantage of the emerging opportunities, stressing that significant fortunes could be created by identifying opportunities early.
“Fortunes are rarely made by following the crowd. They are made by recognising opportunity before everyone else does,” he said.
He also expressed appreciation to The Progressive Minds Show and the organisers of the Business Exchange Forum for creating a platform to strengthen economic cooperation between Ghana and the United States.
The Council of State member reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to attract investments and public-private partnerships, saying the Volta Region was well positioned to become one of the country’s leading investment destinations.
