RMG Company Ltd, has disassociated itself from a publication by The Fourth Estate concerning its former mining operations at the Apinto concession, insisting it neither authorised nor endorsed the report and rejecting any attempt to link the company to its allegations.
In a statement issued by management on Wednesday, July 22, the company said it had “not authorized, commissioned, endorsed or participated in the publication or dissemination” of the report, stressing that the views, allegations and conclusions contained in it are solely those of the publisher.
RMG further rejected claims in the publication suggesting that the Government of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), or public officials played any role in facilitating the takeover of its mining operations.
“The company strongly dissociates itself from the complaints, allegations and political assertions contained in the publication and does not wish to be drawn into political discourse or partisan controversy,” the statement said.
According to the company, it has maintained a professional and constructive relationship with the Government of Ghana and its institutions, adding that sustainable growth in the mining sector depends on collaboration, mutual respect, and strict adherence to the country’s laws and regulatory framework.
RMG also expressed appreciation to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, as well as the leadership and technical staff of the Minerals Commission, for what it described as their guidance and continued engagement.
The company said the support received from the ministry and the commission has been instrumental in restructuring its operations and laying the foundation for the restoration of its mining activities.
RMG reaffirmed its commitment to investing in Ghana, stating that it is working towards fully restoring its operations with the aim of creating sustainable employment opportunities for more than 5,000 young Ghanaians while complying with all environmental, legal and regulatory requirements.
The company urged the public, stakeholders and the media not to attribute any political position or commentary arising from The Fourth Estate publication to RMG Company Ltd.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining cordial relations with the Government, regulatory bodies, traditional authorities, host communities and business partners as it seeks to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth and national development.
