Amenfi Central Member of Parliament (MP), Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has admonished constituents to desist from relying on unverified information, rumours and political attacks on social media, stressing that insults and misinformation cannot address the developmental challenges confronting the constituency.
She urged residents to scrutinise claims circulating on platforms such as TikTok, Facebook and WhatsApp and demand evidence before accepting or sharing them.
“Ask for evidence. Visit the communities. Speak to beneficiaries. Look at the projects. Check the facts. Then judge by the results,” she said.
Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe made the call when she engaged the chiefs and people of Wassa Agona Amenfi on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, as part of efforts to identify challenges facing the constituency and find practical solutions to accelerate its development.
According to the MP, while genuine criticism and accountability were necessary, political arguments and social media attacks could not substitute for tangible development.
“Rumours cannot build hospitals, insults cannot extend electricity, and misinformation cannot create jobs,” she stressed.
She, therefore, called on residents to counter misinformation with facts and evidence and channel political differences into constructive discussions capable of advancing the interests of Amenfi Central.
Development Must Unite Us
Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe also appealed to residents to put the development needs of the constituency above partisan political differences, arguing that the challenges confronting the people affected everyone regardless of political affiliation.
“A bad road does not ask whether you are NDC or NPP. A sick child has no political party. Poor network affects everybody. Electricity challenges affect everybody. Unemployment affects every family,” she said.
She listed poor road networks, unemployment, inadequate telecommunications and electricity infrastructure, weak healthcare and educational facilities, water shortages, poverty and limited economic opportunities among the key challenges requiring collective action.
“As Member of Parliament, I represent all the people of Amenfi Central,” she emphasised.
Mrs. Gyan Cudjoe, however, invited residents who identified with the NDC’s vision of people-centred leadership, unity, opportunity and development to join the party and contribute to its activities.
She also called on development partners, investors, professionals and other stakeholders to offer ideas, expertise and resources towards the transformation of the constituency.
The MP expressed appreciation to traditional authorities, community leaders, constituency and branch executives, elders, women, farmers, traders, professionals, workers and, particularly, the youth for participating in the engagement.
“I heard you. I listened to you. I understand you. And I am ready to work with you,” she said.
She expressed confidence that the engagement had strengthened unity among residents and renewed their commitment to working together to advance the development of Wassa Agona Amenfi and the entire Amenfi Central Constituency.
