Ghana Medical Trust Fund Kicks Off Media Engagement Tour

The leadership of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), led by its Administrator, Mrs. Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has commenced a strategic media engagement tour aimed at strengthening partnerships with media organizations across the country.

The initiative forms part of the Trust Fund’s broader efforts to deepen collaboration with the media, enhance public understanding of its mandate, and mobilize support from individuals, corporate institutions, and development partners for its life-saving interventions.

The first stop on the tour was the Despite Media Group, making it the first media organization to formally host the GMTF leadership under the initiative.

Management of Despite Media Group, led by Managing Director Fadda Dickson Narh and General Manager Kennedy Asante Osei, warmly received the delegation and expressed admiration for the Trust Fund’s mission.

Addressing management during the visit, Mrs. Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku outlined the Fund’s mandate, achievements, ongoing interventions, and future plans.

She emphasized the critical role of the media in raising awareness about the Trust Fund and the impact it continues to make across the country.

She underscored the importance of strategic partnerships with media organizations in advancing the Fund’s vision of ensuring that no Ghanaian is denied access to quality healthcare due to financial constraints.

According to her, although the Fund has already transformed the lives of many beneficiaries suffering from non-communicable diseases and other critical health conditions, there remains an urgent need to increase public awareness about its interventions and opportunities for individuals and organizations to support its work.

“The media remains one of our most valuable partners in this journey. We want media organizations not only to understand our mandate but also to help us tell the powerful stories of hope and survival emerging through the Fund.

These stories have the potential to inspire greater public support and encourage more people and institutions to contribute to this noble cause,” she said.

The GMTF Administrator noted that increased visibility for the Trust Fund would help attract donations from corporate bodies, philanthropists, development partners, and well-meaning individuals, thereby enabling it to extend support to more patients in need of life-saving treatment.

Management of Despite Media Group acknowledged the importance of the Trust Fund’s mission and expressed its willingness to support the initiative.

The management further assured the delegation that it would internally review possible areas of collaboration and subsequently revert with proposals on how the media organization could contribute to advancing the Fund’s work and expanding public awareness of its interventions.

The media engagement tour is expected to continue with visits to other leading media organizations across the country as the Trust Fund seeks to build a strong coalition of media partners committed to supporting healthcare access and promoting its life-saving interventions.
