Vakpo Chief Linguist Declared Wanted

The District Magistrate Court at Vakpo, in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the town’s Chief Linguist, Evans Siale, who is facing charges of defrauding by false pretense.
Siale is alleged to have collected GH¢8,000 from members of the Obimpeh family to file a case at the Vakpo Traditional Council after another family reportedly entered the Obimpeh family house in November 2025 to perform certain strange rituals.
Unhappy with the incident, the Obimpeh family decided to seek redress at the traditional council and tasked the linguist, who is also a member of the family—to file the summons on their behalf.
He reportedly accepted the role and collected GH¢8,000 and 12 bottles of gin to initiate the process at the council.
However, after months without any feedback from the traditional council, the family wrote to withdraw the summons, only to be informed that no such case had been filed.
When confronted, Siale was unable to provide any satisfactory explanation for failing to file the summons and also failed to refund the money and the bottles of gin.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police, leading to his arrest and prosecution.
When the case was called on April 1, 2026, the accused failed to appear in court.
The presiding judge, Comfort Asamoah Sarpong, therefore issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
The case has been adjourned to April 22.
