UN Won’t Accept ‘Liar With Zero Credibility’—Ken Camp Claps Back At Atta Akyea

Tensions within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) escalated yesterday ahead of the presidential primaries, with the campaign team of flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Ohene Agyapong urging delegates to elect bold and honest leader rather than what it describes as an “unrepentant liar with zero credibility.”
Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for the Kennedy Agyapong campaign, in sharp counterattack cautioned delegates to exercise sound judgment ahead of the January 31 flagbearer election.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, he argued that the United Nations (UN) and the international community would prefer a bold and honest Ghanaian leader—even one known to use strong language—over a “liar” with questionable credibility.
“Indeed, the UN and the international community will prefer a bold, honest leader who occasionally uses the word ‘motherfucker’ to an unrepentant liar who has zero credibility in both economic management and leadership,” Kwarteng wrote.

Although he did not mention any name, his remarks are widely believed to be a direct response to comments made by former Minister for Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, who is a key member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team.
Speaking at a gathering of party supporters during Dr. Bawumia’s “Our Journey Together” tour in Mpraeso in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, November 26, Atta Akyea cautioned delegates against choosing what he termed a “loose talker” as the party’s next flagbearer.
In what many considered a jab at Kennedy Agyapong, Atta Akyea warned that electing a candidate prone to vulgar language could embarrass Ghana at the international level, particularly at the United Nations General Assembly.
“Imagine choosing a flagbearer who might break loose at the UN and use words like ‘motherfucker’. A whole President of Ghana using such language,” he said. “Have you ever heard Dr. Bawumia use the word ‘motherfucker’?”
Atta Akyea stressed that Ghana’s global reputation must remain intact, especially on high-profile platforms where diplomacy and decorum are paramount. He argued that the next leader must demonstrate maturity, temperament, and statesmanship in engaging the international community.
The NPP will elect its flagbearer on January 31, 2026, as part of efforts to reorganize and recapture power in the 2028 general election.
The contest features five aspirants, with the leading contenders being former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.
Other candidates in the race include former Education Minister Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum, former Agriculture Minister Dr. Bryan Acheampong, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.
