The Chief Executive Officer of Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF), Alhaji Halidu Haruna, has announced a major intervention in sports infrastructure for Zongo communities through private funding.
Alhaji Haruna stated that the intervention is part of a Framework for Cooperation between the ZoDF and Lungo World LLC, a major American basketball institution.
The framework would lead to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Lungo World LLC and targeted Zongos, for the construction of state-of-the arts sports complexes in the communities.
Alhaji Haruna announced the initiative at an engagement programme with Chiefs, Imams, Community leaders, Youth representatives and Sports administrators at Town Council Line (TCL) on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
He noted that the project would be fully funded by the organisation, with ownership retained by the community.
Sarki Alhaji Sulley Wangabi, Chief of TCL Zongo welcomed the proposal and its potential to transform the community.
He noted that Alhaji Haruna has provided significant support to the community over the years and that the initiative is further proof of his “undiminished devotion” to Town Council Line.
