Wovenu SHS Matron, Police Officer Arrested for Stealing Food Supplies

Doris Foli, the Assistant Matron of Wovenu Senior High Technical School (WOSSETS) in Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality has been arrested together with a police officer and his girlfriend for allegedly stealing food items meant for students.
The three suspects, Doris Foli, Bernard Amegbor and Perfect Foli were caught red-handed on Wednesday, February 11, at about 6:20 a.m. by some residents of the town and the Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Patrick Meli Atipoe.
They were intercepted while allegedly transporting the items in a Toyota saloon car with registration number GR 6147-11. The incident attracted a large crowd.
Items retrieved from the vehicle included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of tinned tomatoes, canned fish, milk and other food supplies believed to be intended for students of the school.
The Archives gathered that, residents had suspected the matron of diverting food supplies to her residence over a period of time and had been monitoring her movements.

Their suspicions led to the early morning operation that resulted in the arrest.
The vehicle was being driven by a police sergeant identified as Bernard Amegbor, who is said to be stationed with the Police Band at the Regional Headquarters in Ho.
He was not in full uniform at the time of the arrest.
He was accompanied by his alleged girlfriend, Perfect Foli who is said to be a sister of the matron.
A subsequent search conducted at the matron’s residence led to the discovery of additional quantities of food items allegedly stockpiled in the house.
The three suspects were initially handed over to the Tadzewu Police and later transferred to the Divisional Police Command in Dzodze for further investigations.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ketu North, Rev. Martin Amenaki, who confirmed the incident, assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable would face the full rigours of the law.
He cautioned matrons and bursars of senior high schools within the municipality and the region against engaging in similar acts, stressing that the government would not shield any individual involved in criminal conduct.
