Who Is Daddy Lumba’s Legitimate Wife?

The ongoing dispute over the legitimate wife of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has taken a dramatic turn as the Fosu Royal Family officially recognises Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, as his rightful spouse.
This declaration challenges the claims of Akosua Serwah Fosuh, who had earlier asserted herself as Daddy Lumba’s wife from Germany.
The dispute reportedly stems from disagreements over funeral arrangements and the administration of the late musician’s estate.
In a letter dated October 1, 2025, and signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates which is making rounds on social media, the legal team said it received instructions of the Fosu Royal Family to clarify certain comments by first wife, Akosuah Serwaa Fosuh.
According to the legal correspondence, Mrs. Serwah Fosuh “has no right to determine how the Fosu Royal Family buries their dead,” citing traditional customs that place the authority over funeral arrangements with the deceased’s family.
The lawyers stated, “Your client’s name, if it appears in the funeral brochures at all, will be a favour from the family because of the children she has with him.”
Lumba deserted
The letter further alleges that Mrs. Serwah Fosuh deserted Daddy Lumba during a critical period of illness, approximately 15 years ago, by refusing to relocate to Ghana with him for medical care.
“Our instructions are that your client, Akosua Serwah Fosuh of Germany, refused to relocate with her then-husband, Daddy Lumba, to Ghana for medical help when he became seriously ill some 15 years ago and therefore deserted him in his difficult time of need,” the statement read.
The lawyers emphasized that Priscilla Ofori, a.k.a. Odo Broni, was the only spouse who stayed with the late musician “through thick and thin” during his illness and until his final moments.
“Our client informs us that Priscilla Ofori is married to the late Daddy Lumba and was the woman who lived with him through thick and thin. They were blessed with six children during their over fifteen years together,” the letter stated. “Suffice it to say that when your client deserted the late Daddy Lumba, Odo Broni was there for him.”
The Fosu Royal Family also disclosed that on February 4, 2018, Akosua Serwah Fosuh wrote a letter to Daddy Lumba, expressing her intention to initiate divorce proceedings and made “many unfounded allegations,” which the late musician denied in his formal response dated February 27, 2018.
Customary Divorce
Furthermore, the family claims that Akosua Serwah presented traditional drinks to signify the dissolution of the marriage, an act which, under Akan and Fosu customs, is recognised as an official divorce.
“By the traditions of the Akans generally, and the Fosu Royal Family in particular, the presentation of drinks by a wife to the family of the husband, when accepted, effectively dissolves the marriage,” the letter emphasized.
On the issue of the late musician’s estate, the lawyers stated that all of Daddy Lumba’s properties constitute part of his estate. They assured that the family, along with his children and their respective mothers, would collaborate to ensure a fair and legal distribution.
They advised all parties to refrain from interfering with the properties until the legal process is completed.
This latest development adds a new layer of complexity to the ongoing family dispute, which has captivated public attention since the passing of the iconic highlife musician.
