Robbers On Rampage At Akatsi As Insecurity Spikes
…Four Seriously Injured in Latest Attack On Good Friday

Residents of the Akatsi South Municipality in the Volta Region are living in fear following an apparent surge in armed robbery incidents, with the latest attack leaving four persons seriously injured.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 3, between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., when suspected armed robbers launched a violent assault on workers at Elshadai Enterprise, a drinks distribution company located at Akatsi Tatorme.
According to media reports, about six masked men armed with guns stormed the company’s main depot premises, shot a worker in the leg, and broke into the accounts section, making away with an unspecified amount of cash.
Sources indicate that three other persons, believed to be residents in the vicinity, sustained gunshot wounds from stray bullets as the attackers fired indiscriminately while fleeing the scene.
The injured victims were initially rushed to St. Anthony Hospital in Dzodze for treatment, while the worker who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg has been referred to the Ho Teaching Hospital for specialist care.
Hospital authorities say the victims are in critical but stable condition.
Eyewitnesses told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the suspects had earlier been spotted in the area dressed in black attire with red bands on their arms, allegedly posing as sympathisers attending a funeral.
The owners of the company, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Sokpoli, were not harmed in the attack and are currently assisting the Police and the Municipal Security Council with investigations.
Police have appealed to the public to volunteer credible information to aid in the arrest of the suspects and have assured residents of intensified patrols in the area.
Earlier robbery attacks
The incident is the latest in a series of robbery attacks in the municipality. A similar attack was recorded on January 10 at Dorima Enterprise, owned by a local businesswoman.
The rising spate of criminal activities, including armed robbery and drug-related offences, has heightened concerns among residents about safety and security in the area.
Residents are calling on the Municipal Security Council and law enforcement agencies to step up patrols and take swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Police say no arrests have been made in connection with the incidents, and investigations are ongoing.
