A police officer with the Akatsi Police Command, Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye, has sold his personal motorbike to raise funds to support 15 students from the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area who have qualified for Senior High School (SHS).
The officer, together with Madam Mavis Adih, provided educational support items to the beneficiaries to help them begin their secondary education.
The items, presented at the Wuxor M/A Basic School on Friday, included 15 mattresses, 15 chalkboxes, exercise books, notebooks and pens.
Sergeant Ofosu Kwakye said he decided to sell his motorbike to raise part of the funds because he was determined to contribute to the educational needs of the students.
His personal sacrifice has been widely appreciated by the community, with the gesture highlighting the commitment of individuals to supporting education and creating opportunities for young people.
Receiving the items on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Assemblymember for the Wuxor, Have and Sremanu Electoral Area, Japhet Festus Gbede expressed gratitude to Sergeant Kwakye and Madam Adih for their support.
He described the gesture as more than a donation of educational materials, saying it demonstrated care, encouragement and confidence in the potential of the beneficiaries.
According to him, the excitement among the students, parents, guardians and community members showed the importance of supporting young people at critical stages of their education.
The Assemblymember commended Sergeant Kwakye for making a personal sacrifice to support the students and also thanked Madam Adih for joining the initiative.
Mr. Gbede further praised the Headmaster and teaching staff of Wuxor M/A Basic School for their dedication and efforts in preparing the students for the next stage of their education.
He said the successful qualification of the 15 students reflected the collective efforts of the students, parents, teachers and the wider community.
The Assemblymember urged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously and make the sacrifices made on their behalf worthwhile as they begin their Senior High School education.
