Pastor, Two Others Arrested Over Attempt to Bury Baby Alive

Police have arrested a pastor and two other individuals over an alleged attempt to bury a six-month-old baby alive at Abofremu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, an incident that has left the community in shock and sparked widespread outrage.

The suspect, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, founder and head pastor of the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour’s Camp, was apprehended alongside two alleged accomplices, identified as Akwasi Nyɛsiɛ Donkor and Sister Ama, following reports of suspicious activity.

According to reports, the suspects were spotted at a refuse dump at about 11 p.m. with the baby under unusual circumstances.

An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, told Adomonline.com that he intervened after noticing the suspicious activity and discovered the child was still alive and on the verge of being buried.

Authorities were alerted after concerned residents observed the group’s behaviour and raised the alarm, leading to swift police intervention to rescue the baby, who was found in distress.

The motive behind the alleged act remains unclear. However, the incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents expressing anger and disbelief.

Traditional authorities have also condemned the development.

Nana Yaw Badu, speaking on behalf of the Abofremu Traditional Council, described the incident as disturbing and called for thorough investigations to ensure justice is served.

The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and are expected to be formally charged.

Meanwhile, residents have called on law enforcement agencies to ensure accountability and safeguard the welfare of children in the community.
