PAC Commends Akatsi South Assembly

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament has commended the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly for its efforts in advancing development and improving the administration of the municipality, following the Assembly’s appearance before the Committee.
The delegation from the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Daniel Dagba, appeared before the Parliamentary Committee as part of Parliament’s oversight responsibilities over Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the Assembly to account for its stewardship, respond to questions from the Committee and highlight measures being implemented to improve development and service delivery across the municipality.
In the course of the proceedings, the Committee acknowledged the work being undertaken by the Assembly while encouraging management to sustain the gains and continue doing more for the people of Akatsi South.
The commendation is being seen as an important recognition of the direction of the Dagba-led administration, particularly its focus on revenue mobilization, local development, accountability and the efficient use of public resources.
Mr. Dagba, who led the Assembly’s delegation, used the engagement to demonstrate the Assembly’s commitment to its responsibilities and to ensuring that concerns raised through the parliamentary oversight process receive the necessary attention.
The PAC’s call for the Assembly to do more, however, also underscores the need for continuous improvement as Akatsi South pursues its development agenda.
The appearance before Parliament comes at a time when the Assembly has continued to engage stakeholders and pursue interventions aimed at addressing development needs across communities within the municipality.
For residents of Akatsi South, the engagement represents another important accountability moment, with the Assembly expected to build on the areas highlighted by the Committee and intensify its efforts towards improved local governance and development.
The proceedings therefore offered both recognition of progress and a renewed call for greater results, with the Dagba-led administration expected to maintain the momentum and translate its programmes into further tangible benefits for the people of Akatsi South.
