NPP’s Abronye DC ‘Caged’ for 2 Weeks

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into custody for two weeks as investigations continue into allegations of misinformation and offensive public statements.
He was rearrested on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, just weeks after being granted bail in connection with the same case.
Abronye DC was initially arrested on Monday, April 13, over allegations of offensive conduct, false publication, and statements allegedly capable of inciting fear and panic among the public.
He was later granted bail pending further investigations.
However, security authorities have since taken him back into custody as investigations intensify into the matter.

Details surrounding the latest arrest remain scant, with officials yet to provide a full explanation for the renewed detention.
Sources familiar with the investigation indicate that the case forms part of broader efforts by security agencies to clamp down on the spread of misinformation and inflammatory public commentary deemed capable of disturbing public peace.
Authorities have also not indicated whether fresh charges will be filed against the NPP regional chairman as investigations continue.
