KNUST Student Dies After Falling From 2nd Floor of Hostel

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been thrown into mourning following the death of a student, Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, a second-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management.
In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, the university disclosed that Mr. Asomani fell from the second floor of an off-campus hostel located at Ayeduase in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026.
According to the statement, fellow students rushed him to the KNUST Hospital with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team. Despite the swift intervention, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
University authorities confirmed that the deceased student’s parents have been duly informed. His body has since been deposited at the hospital mortuary, where it is being held pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

Management of the university expressed profound sorrow over the incident and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the entire university community, describing the death as a significant loss.
Meanwhile, the KNUST Police, in collaboration with the university’s security services, have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.
The university assured the public that updates will be provided as soon as investigations are concluded.
