…Target Markets In Togo, Benin, Nigeria, And Others

The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC), in partnership with GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, is set to establish a modern Eastern Factory in the Volta Region to boost industrial growth and create jobs.
The decision follows a courtesy call by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, on the Chief Executive Officer of GIHOC, Jones Borteye Applerh. The meeting focused on strategic investment opportunities aimed at expanding the company’s operations into the Volta Region.
Announcing the development in a Facebook post on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, Mr. Gunu said the collaboration is expected to open up employment opportunities for the youth and stimulate economic activity in the region.
“I am pleased to share that the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council is collaborating with GIHOC Distilleries to establish their modern Eastern Factory here in the Volta Region. This strategic investment is expected to serve markets in Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and other countries within the sub-region,” he stated.

As part of efforts to facilitate the project, a five-acre parcel of land has been earmarked in the Akatsi North District for the construction of the facility.
The proposed factory is expected to serve both the Ghanaian market and neighbouring countries including Togo, Benin and Nigeria, positioning the Volta Region as a key manufacturing and trade hub within the West African sub-region.
Mr. Applerh, together with his Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Magdalene Ndamley, received the Minister and his delegation and conducted them on a tour of the company’s production facility.

The visit offered firsthand insight into GIHOC’s innovation, production standards and operational efficiency, reinforcing confidence in the proposed expansion.
The partnership is being hailed as a significant step toward strengthening industrialisation efforts in the Volta Region, while enhancing trade prospects and driving sustainable economic development.
