Fifi Kwetey Threatens to Name ‘NDCpreneurs’ Cutting Deals With Corrupt NPP Elements

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, has issued a stern warning to certain elements within the party allegedly engaged in corrupt backdoor dealings with counterparts in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking at an event organized by the NDC Lawyers Association, Mr. Kwetey expressed frustration at what he described as the sabotage of the party’s anti-corruption agenda by individuals within its own ranks.

While he fell short of naming names, the former Minister for Food and Agriculture made it clear that he would not hesitate to expose those involved if the trend continues.

“Some among us are busy trying to cut deals with people who are supposed to be prosecuted. Some have become conduits through whom pressure is being exerted on officials to do the wrong thing,” he warned.

“A word to the wise is enough. Some know themselves — those whose names we keep hearing, think again.”

‘Nation Wreckers’ Undermining Justice

Mr. Kwetey accused these unnamed party members — whom he described as “nation wreckers” — of collaborating with former appointees of the Akufo-Addo administration who have been accused of corruption. These internal saboteurs, he claimed, are working behind the scenes to shield the accused from prosecution by cutting secret deals.

He stressed that such actions are not only unethical but also run contrary to the very mandate on which the NDC was elected into office.

“This victory was achieved largely because the people of Ghana want the right things to be done — not for deals to be cut. It cannot be that when it’s the NPP in power, we shout for accountability, but when we’re in power, we turn around and cut deals. That won’t happen,” he said.

Call to the Attorney General

Addressing the gathering, which included the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, the NDC General Secretary emphasized the need for thorough investigations and prosecutions to restore public trust.

“If it has to be done, it must be done well. That means proper due diligence and a clean, thorough job,” he stated.

He further urged NDC lawyers and government appointees to lead by example and ensure the legal process is not undermined by political considerations or internal compromise.

“You cannot, on one hand, condemn those on the other side for corruption while on the other hand, be part of a system that subverts the same law and constitution. Justice must be the foundation.”

Upholding Accountability

Fifi Kwetey’s comments come amid growing public pressure on the NDC administration to deliver on its promises to prosecute those accused of looting state funds under the previous government. His remarks reflect internal tensions within the ruling party, as some members are reportedly frustrating efforts to bring alleged corrupt officials to justice.

He concluded by urging the NDC to maintain its moral high ground in the fight against corruption, warning that any compromise would damage both the party’s credibility and the country’s democratic institutions.

“If we are to hold others accountable, we must first ensure that we are clean ourselves,” he advised.
