Deputy Education Minister Not Sidelined By His Boss

The Office of the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, has dismissed as false and misleading claims circulating on social media suggesting a rift between him and the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu.

The clarification follows the circulation of a video featuring commentary by broadcaster Kelvin Taylor on the ‘With All Due Respect’ programme, which implied internal disagreements within the leadership of the Ministry of Education.

But in a statement issued on Friday, January 30, 2026, the Deputy Minister’s Personal Assistant, Samson Samari, said the assertions in the video do not reflect the reality within the ministry.

“Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak has never expressed, privately or publicly, any grievance regarding his role or the delegation of duties within the Ministry,” the statement said.

“Contrary to the suggestions in the video, the Minister, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has consistently provided a collaborative and inclusive environment.”

The statement further noted that Dr. Apaak fully dissociates himself from the claims made in the video, stressing that they do not represent his views, sentiments, or experiences.

According to the Office of the Deputy Minister, Dr. Apaak remains one of the most empowered deputies in government and frequently represents the Ministry of Education at high-level functions and decision-making forums.

It added that he maintains the highest level of respect for the Minister’s leadership and remains committed to their shared objective of advancing Ghana’s educational agenda.

“The Deputy Minister maintains the highest level of respect for the Minister’s leadership and remains committed to their shared goal of advancing the nation’s educational agenda,” he said.

The office urged the public to disregard the commentary contained in the video, describing it as speculative and inconsistent with the professional collaboration currently driving the Ministry of Education.
