The Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment has signed landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Design and Technology Institute (DTI) and the Christian Council of Ghana to strengthen youth skills development, employment, entrepreneurship and values-based leadership across the country.
The agreements, signed on Tuesday, August 4, are aimed at expanding opportunities for young people through industry-driven skills training, labour mobility and nationwide youth engagement programmes.
The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, Mr George Opare-Addo, led the signing ceremony alongside officials of the Design and Technology Institute and the Christian Council of Ghana.
Under the agreement with DTI, the Ministry will collaborate with the institute to provide industry-relevant technical and vocational skills training to equip young people with competencies demanded by the labour market.
The partnership is also expected to enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship among Ghanaian youth.
The Ministry’s partnership with the Christian Council of Ghana will harness the Council’s nationwide network to promote volunteerism, national values, responsible digital citizenship, substance abuse prevention and psychosocial support for young people.
The collaboration is expected to broaden access to quality skills training while creating inclusive opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable youth and underserved communities. Beneficiaries will also have pathways to both local and international employment.
According to the Ministry, the partnerships combine its policy leadership with the technical expertise of the Design and Technology Institute and the community outreach of the Christian Council of Ghana to accelerate workforce development and youth empowerment.
The Ministry said the initiative underscores the government’s commitment to equipping Ghana’s youth with relevant skills, strengthening entrepreneurship and building a highly skilled, disciplined and globally competitive workforce.
