A Junior High School (JHS) student is receiving treatment after suffering a deep cutlass wound allegedly inflicted by a female colleague who accused him of repeatedly touching her breasts during a campus clean-up exercise.
The incident occurred at Assin Krofofrodo D/A Basic School in the Assin North District of the Central Region.
According to Citi Newsroom report, the injured student, a JHS One pupil, was allegedly slashed by a 15-year-old JHS Two female student after he repeatedly ignored her warnings to stop touching her breasts while they were weeding the school compound.
School authorities had assigned students to clear the overgrown compound using cutlasses as part of a clean-up exercise.
According to the girl’s account, the boy repeatedly fondled her breasts while they were working. She said she warned him several times to stop, but he allegedly ignored her warnings and continued the inappropriate conduct.
Enraged by his actions, she allegedly picked up a cutlass and slashed him on the inner wrist.
The boy sustained a deep cutlass wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital after bleeding profusely.
Meanwhile, the parents of the injured student have accused the school authorities of negligence, alleging that they failed to respond promptly after the incident, which occurred during school hours.
According to the family, school authorities neither provided immediate assistance nor ensured the boy was taken to the hospital despite his serious condition.
They claimed he was left unattended for some time while bleeding heavily until his parent returned from the farm and transported him to a health facility for treatment.
Speaking on behalf of the family, the victim’s elder sister, Joyce Enyan, called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation into both the assault and the conduct of the school authorities.
“He said a female colleague inflicted a cutlass wound on him while they were playing. He said he wrapped his arm around her neck and mistakenly touched her breast.
The teachers didn’t pay much attention to him after the injury. He nearly passed out. His shirt was completely drenched with blood,” Joyce Enyan said.
