2 Soldiers, 2 Civilians Arrested in Foiled Robbery at Prestea

Two individuals believed to be military personnel and their two civilian accomplices have been arrested following a failed robbery attempt at LongShine Mining Company Limited, located at Prestea-Obouhu.

The incident occurred on Sunday, September 28, when the suspects reportedly stormed the mining site in a pickup truck. According to eyewitness accounts, the two alleged soldiers were dressed in military uniforms, while the civilians had their faces concealed with masks.

Company officials say the group attempted to forcibly gain access to the premises, prompting immediate action by LongShine’s security team. The company quickly alerted the Prestea Police, who arrived at the scene in time to apprehend the suspects before any harm was done.

Speaking to Channel One News on Wednesday, October 1, the Public Relations Officer of LongShine Mining, Mr. Zion Rootman, confirmed the incident and commended the swift intervention by the police.

“The timely response by the Prestea Police undoubtedly prevented what could have been a serious security breach,” Mr. Rootman stated.

The four suspects have since been transferred to the Tarkwa Regional Police Command for further investigation.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the suspects or confirm the military status of the two men in uniform, pending ongoing investigations
